I remember the days of getting all dressed up for New Year's Eve. Picking out a new outfit, some fun make-up. Oh, those were the days...
Yesterday Ella and I went to the mall with Dana. We had SUCH a good time. We met Robyn, her mom, and Gabriella there. It was so nice to see them again. We shopped, ate and hung out. We went to my favorite store in the world (TARGET!) and Ella got a pair of red boots and some brown sandals, along with a few shirts and a couple of pairs of jeans. She is officially in 24 months/2T clothes now. I have to roll up the sleeves and the jeans, but it looks cute. One t-shirt has a Little Miss Sunshine logo on it -too cute!
Ella was going to spend the night with Dana, so I headed home around 7:00. Dave and Leigh Anne (our friend) we're getting ready to watch a scary movie. I love scary movies, and we just can't watch them while the kids are up - so I was very excited about a no-kids night with Dave and Leigh Anne and our movie. It was so much fun... Then, ring, ring... Dana's name is flashing on my phone. She had let Ella stay up and visit with Thomas - her baby boy (six foot six baby boy!) and they had a wonderful time. Ella went to bed around 9:00 - no problem. Then Dana heard her coughing - not just the regular coughing, but the choking, gagging, I might throw up kind of coughing. Turns out she had a fever of 103.
I freaked out. Ran to my car, ran to Wal-Greens. Let me stop here for a minute. I know some of you are thinking, "doesn't a momma of a two-year old have Tylenol??"
Well, the answer would be YES, until my sister comes down for Christmas and brings her son, who had a fever of 102!!! I gave my bottle of Tylenol to Daniel. Hmmm, his sypmtoms are quite similar to Ella's. Coincidence? I think not! SO - THANKS, SIS!!!
Just kidding Angela... I'm sure this isn't your fault... (hee, hee)
To make a longer story short - Ella's fever went down, but not much. She didn't have a wet diaper for over 18 hours and had a rough night. I took her to the doctor this morning and she has a nasty sinus infection. She's lost almost two pounds (and I was so happy when we hit 25 lbs! Guess we'll get there again...) She can barely whisper because her "mouth" hurts. She feels miserable, and so do I. She is on (horror of horrors) an antibiotic and phenergan. She's peed only once today, and ate some lima beans and cous cous. She took a four hour nap today. Bless her heart.
Well, I gotta go. I have the cutest outfit to put on and I need to fix my hair and finish my make-up so I can go out to a New Year's Eve party... Just kidding! With Mommahood we take the good with the bad. And honestly I wouldn't have it any other way. I've been praying all day thanking God for what Ella doesn't have. She isn't throwing up (most of ya'll know how NOT well I DON'T handle that) and doesn't have anything so serious as, well, I can't even bring myself to think about all of the different serious illnesses that can occur to our precious babies...
Thank you God for allowing me to ring in the New Year with my beautiful daughter. Thank you for what this illness ISN'T. Thank you for taking care of us. You are ever-faithful, and I thank you for all of the blessings of the year.
Happy New Year Everyone!!!!!!!
P.S. Ella lost a pickle in my car. I can smell it, but I can't find it. Anyone have any suggestions on the best way to find a missing pickle??? Gross!!
With love,
Becca and Ella
