I prayed for this child, and the Lord has granted me what I asked of Him.--1 Samuel 1:27

I'm pretty sure Love thy Enemy strongly implies not killing them.

Happy New Year! also a sick toddler and a pickle

I remember the days of getting all dressed up for New Year's Eve. Picking out a new outfit, some fun make-up. Oh, those were the days...

Yesterday Ella and I went to the mall with Dana. We had SUCH a good time. We met Robyn, her mom, and Gabriella there. It was so nice to see them again. We shopped, ate and hung out. We went to my favorite store in the world (TARGET!) and Ella got a pair of red boots and some brown sandals, along with a few shirts and a couple of pairs of jeans. She is officially in 24 months/2T clothes now. I have to roll up the sleeves and the jeans, but it looks cute. One t-shirt has a Little Miss Sunshine logo on it -too cute!

Ella was going to spend the night with Dana, so I headed home around 7:00. Dave and Leigh Anne (our friend) we're getting ready to watch a scary movie. I love scary movies, and we just can't watch them while the kids are up - so I was very excited about a no-kids night with Dave and Leigh Anne and our movie. It was so much fun... Then, ring, ring... Dana's name is flashing on my phone. She had let Ella stay up and visit with Thomas - her baby boy (six foot six baby boy!) and they had a wonderful time. Ella went to bed around 9:00 - no problem. Then Dana heard her coughing - not just the regular coughing, but the choking, gagging, I might throw up kind of coughing. Turns out she had a fever of 103.

I freaked out. Ran to my car, ran to Wal-Greens. Let me stop here for a minute. I know some of you are thinking, "doesn't a momma of a two-year old have Tylenol??"

Well, the answer would be YES, until my sister comes down for Christmas and brings her son, who had a fever of 102!!! I gave my bottle of Tylenol to Daniel. Hmmm, his sypmtoms are quite similar to Ella's. Coincidence? I think not! SO - THANKS, SIS!!!

Just kidding Angela... I'm sure this isn't your fault... (hee, hee)

To make a longer story short - Ella's fever went down, but not much. She didn't have a wet diaper for over 18 hours and had a rough night. I took her to the doctor this morning and she has a nasty sinus infection. She's lost almost two pounds (and I was so happy when we hit 25 lbs! Guess we'll get there again...) She can barely whisper because her "mouth" hurts. She feels miserable, and so do I. She is on (horror of horrors) an antibiotic and phenergan. She's peed only once today, and ate some lima beans and cous cous. She took a four hour nap today. Bless her heart. Well, I gotta go. I have the cutest outfit to put on and I need to fix my hair and finish my make-up so I can go out to a New Year's Eve party... Just kidding! With Mommahood we take the good with the bad. And honestly I wouldn't have it any other way. I've been praying all day thanking God for what Ella doesn't have. She isn't throwing up (most of ya'll know how NOT well I DON'T handle that) and doesn't have anything so serious as, well, I can't even bring myself to think about all of the different serious illnesses that can occur to our precious babies...

Thank you God for allowing me to ring in the New Year with my beautiful daughter. Thank you for what this illness ISN'T. Thank you for taking care of us. You are ever-faithful, and I thank you for all of the blessings of the year.

Happy New Year Everyone!!!!!!!

P.S. Ella lost a pickle in my car. I can smell it, but I can't find it. Anyone have any suggestions on the best way to find a missing pickle??? Gross!!

With love,
Becca and Ella

FFF

I know this picture is in my last post, but it is my favorite picture right now! I am so happy that I have a recent picture with my brother, sister, and mom. They are some of my very favorite people in the world and I'm proud of all of them.

Family Pics

Momma and Ella We went to Red River Gorge for our "Christmas Morning" with Myles.
From left to right - My sister Angela, me, my mom and my brother Danny. I LOVE this picture. I wish Dad was in it. I might do some magic with photoshop and add him to it!!! Momma Angela and Ella Big Bro Myles - Despite the blah look on his face he had a very good time! He got a Wii. I've not seen him do anything else since he opened it. Dave, too. It's hilarious to see an (almost) 37 year old man jump around playing a video game! Uncle Danny got Hannah and Myles iPods, too. Lots of technology this year. Dave got me one. I have no idea what it is or how to use it.
~TWINS~ For those of you that don't know - my sister and I are identical twins. Don't we look alike? We even sound alike, except that she sounds WAY more country than I do.

FFF - Merry Christmas!!!

Is this not the cutest thing you have ever seen?

I'm posting my Favorite Foto Friday a bit early - Christmas Tour '07 starts tomorrow! We're heading to Natural Bridge, back the next day to Nana's house, then to Aunt Angela's the day after, then to Aunt Linda's on Christmas Eve, followed by Aunt Dana's on Christmas Day, then to Uncle Dan's on the 26th, and then maybe to cousin Steve's later next week!

Woo, hoo!! I'm getting tired just typing it all out. I'd better get off now and make a visit to MapQuest to figure out the easiest way from Point A to Point B, to Point C, Point D - you get the picture!

Hope everyone is doing well! Thanks to all who sent me a Christmas card - there are many cuties hanging on the wall in my office!!

FFF - Dedicated to Myles

I want to dedicate this week's edition of FFF (Fave Foto Friday) to my first baby, Myles. I didn't come into his life until he was two - at that age he had a lot to teach me! He is the most determined, affectionate, loving child a step-momma could ask for. Myles, I am so blessed to get the opportunity to share in your life. I love you very much. And you're the best big brother in the world!

More Pictures? Heck Yea!

Click on Post Name above to visit Matilda Jane Clothing We went to the Capitol today to take pictures with Lindy (Nini), Momma Jayme, Nicholas, Corey, and William - who was delivered on the same day we landed on US soil! If you'll scroll down you'll notice the connection Ella and William have - true love? Maybe so! They will (finally) welcome a sister, Miss Molly, in January. I only wish Jayme and I were "delivering" together again... I have to mention Ella's clothes. They're Matilda Jane. A new company started from a SAHM in Indiana - her business has tripled this past year- and you can see why. (Robyn - these are the ones I was telling you would look so great on Gabriella...)These clothes just say, "Ella!" to me. They also sell Mommy clothes. I'm getting a pair of the green/blue pants in the mail soon! (I know my friend Elizabeth is laughing out loud right now. She's always gotten a laugh out of my style - she's more, uh, conservative!) Ella and I will match - too freaking cute, right??
And before I get the award for Worst Step-Mom of the year let me defend myself. Last night Myles was at his mommy's house and today he was playing in a basketball game. Myles and Daddy just don't get into the pictures as much as Ella and I do!
Oh - and BTW, Dana, Amber, Angela, Steph, Mel and LA (and the rest of my sorry a** friends and relatives out there) - if you don't leave us a message we will pitch a fit - you don't have to be a GuateMama to leave one and you don't have to have a Blogger account - so no excuses! Angela (my sister) even had the nerve to e-mail me and complain that there are no pics of her cute kids on my blog anymore (they're in archives you durn lurker) and I'm going on strike from being a good aunt until all have left me and Ella a message! (She keeps asking why none of you do - I think she's starting to get her feelings hurt!) She's been doing a squinty-eyed smile lately. I can't seem to get her to stop doing it. The more I say, "Open your eyes and smile," the squintier they get. Oh, well - I think it's pretty darn cute.
The whole gang - Nicholas, William, Corey, and My Bean...
She looks a bit untrusting here - they may have been trying to talk her into misbehaving. She's resisting temptation - what an angel... (ha, ha, ha! Yea, right!)
Wearing the pants I will be recieving soon! They look soooo comfy.
Check out how out of control her "whale spout" is getting. It is starting to look more like a mohawk....
My All-American Girl - well, my GuateMerican Girl!

Mommy - are we finished taking pictures yet??

Just Showing Off - Too Many Christmas Outfits! **FFF*

Yup - that's right. I don't care. I'm posting EIGHTEEN pictures of Ella in three different Christmas outfits. Laugh if you want. I just can't help myself. Tomorrow we're taking more. I am shameless. I even promised a whole box of tic tacs if she cooperated. And I fulfilled my promise - it ruined her dinner. I am a terrible mother. But look how cute My Bean is. I'm sorry - but she is the cutest thing I have ever seen. Thank you, God for delivering this Precious Angel to me. I promise from now on she'll be served well rounded meals with all of the food groups represented - but tonight - it's Tic Tacs and Cute Pics for ALL!
