"Be agreeable, be sympathetic, be loving, be compassionate, be humble. That goes for all of you, no exceptions. No retaliation. No sharp-tongued sarcasm. Instead, Bless—that's your job, to Bless. You'll be a blessing and also get a blessing."
My friend sent this to me today. I don't know if she read my blog post yesterday or not. So, I am making efforts to be agreeable, sympathetic, compassionate and humble. These are somewhat easier for me. But no retaliation?! no sharp-tongued sarcasm?! This one is a struggle that I will need help with. :-)
I do want to raise Ella to have these characteristics, so I guess the best way to lead is by example. I do feel at times that I am owed the right to respond to some people in a negative way. I feel like I have the right to be impatient and irritable. Don't these people know what I'm going through? And then I catch myself feeling so righteous and I hate myself for it. How selfish. How self-centered.
But then I realize... EVERYONE is going through something difficult. Everyone is experiencing trials. So, with that being said I apologize for being so focused on myself and for being short-sighted and only seeing the struggles in MY life while turning a blind eye to what my family and friends are going through. Not to mention what the rest of this crazy world is experiencing. A couple of Sundays ago our church service suggested taking the focus off of oneself and placing that focus on others.
Praying that we all receive peace and grace. And hugs.
Thank You..I'm Feeling Much Better (and some other Christmas Traditions)

My post would be never ending. So big happy hugs to all of you from me and Ella.

Peace and Hugs,
Guatemala is in a severe state of calamity. Women and children are suffering. And we can't tolerate that.
Guatemala is dealing with one of the worst droughts ever. Children are suffering from chronic malnutrition and literally starving to death. If you're like me and have a precious angel from Guatemala then you know what happens when you look into the faces in these pictures. You see YOUR child. Because you know good and well that had your son or daughter not come home that he or she might be in a similar condition.
Sucks, doesn't it? Keeps me up at night. Keeps me very aware of my blessings.

Nearly half of all Guatemalan children suffer from malnutrition which has a direct and negative impact on their physical and mental growth, severely compromising their educational prospects. The problem of malnutrition is most acute among Guatemala's Mayan people (40% of the total population). Nearly 70 percent of Mayan children are malnourished.

Can you imagine being a mother carrying this burden? Can you imagine holding your child in your lap because they are too weak to hold themselves up? Can you imagine trying to calm them while they cry from hunger pains. Can you imagine how horrible that must be??
Keeps me up at night. Makes me want to scream obscenities from my roof. But I won't. All that will do is get my arrested or put away. Instead I'm going to help
